Grand Slam and Tale of the Cat, both of whom rank in the top five on the freshman list, will stand for $30,000 and $25,000, respectively.
Ashford Stud, a satellite of Irish-based Coolmore Stud, announced fees of $125,000 for Fusaichi Pegasus and Giant's Causeway. Both stallions will be standing their third season in 2003. Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr. Prospector -- Angel Fever, by Danzig) and Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat -- Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) stood the past season for $135,000 and currently are standing at Coolmore in Australia.Ashford also announced a $30,000 for incoming stallion Johannesburg. Three-year-old Johannesburg (Hennessy -- Myth, by Ogygian) won last year's Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and several championships. Thunder Gulch, sire of 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given, will undergo a drop in stud fee from $80,000 to $65,000. The son of Gulch out of the Storm Bird mare Line of Thunder also is standing at Coolmore Australia.
