Apprentice jockey John McKee rode Jenny's Prospector to an impressive win in the $100,000 Hoosier Debutante Stakes on Ladies Night Saturday at Hoosier Park."I just sat back and remained calm," he said. (Trainer) William Connelly told me to stay on the rail as long as I could. I had a good trip."After watching Hoosier Park legend Jon Court and Wildcat Annie lead the race into the stretch, fans got an exciting battle down the stretch. Three horses fought through the long straightaway with Hurry Home and Mark Guidry joining Jenny's Prospector and Wildcat Annie for the lead. Jenny's Prospector proved to be up to the challenge by pulling away for the victory in 1:11 2/5. Hurry Home bested Wildcat Annie to the wire for second. Jenny's Prospector picked up her second win in five lifetime starts and scored her first stakes win. The winner's share of the purse brings the Banker's Gold filly's career earnings to just over the $80,000 mark. Commonwealth Racing LLC and Joyce Tappan own Jenny's Prospector. Bill Connelly trains the filly.McKee felt he has learned a great deal since his start in racing just six months ago."I have learned to set a pace," said McKee. "I have learned to just be patient, and have learned a great deal from my agent Eddie Campbell. We talk a lot, and he studies film with me. He tells me what he sees and that helps."
