Good Journey Aims for Citation Repeat

Good Journey, one of the leading turf milers in the nation, will defend honors in the $500,000 Citation Handicap (gr. IIT) at Hollywood Park Nov. 30, trainer Wally Dollase said. A key component of the $2.1-million Turf Festival, the Citation will be run at 1 1/16 miles on grass.

"He's been doing great since he came back from the Breeders' Cup," said Dollase of the 6-year-old horse, who finished a strong third behind Domedriver and Rock of Gibraltar in the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT). Pat Day has the call back.

Good Journey beat Decarchy by a half-length on a rain-softened turf course in the Citation last year and won his first three outings this year before the Breeders' Cup.

Dollase also said that he planned to start Mananan McLir, third-place finisher in the Oak Tree Derby (gr. IIT), in the $500,000 Hollywood Derby (gr. IT) Dec. 1. Dollase won the race with champion Itsallgreektome in 1990.
