Dress To Thrill, one of the leading 3-year-old fillies in Europe, will compete in the $500,000 Matriarch (gr. IT) for fillies and mares Dec. 1, Hollywood Park assistant racing secretary and stakes coordinator Danny Eidson was informed Sunday.
Dress To Thrill, trained by Dermot Weld for owners Moyglare Stud and Walter Heafner, won all four of her stakes starts this year in Ireland and England before finishing eighth, beaten by 5 1/4 lengths, in the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT).
The daughter of Danehill won the Group II Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket after victories in the Group III Matron Stakes and Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown.
Dress To Thrill will be joined in the Matriarch by a second European invader, Choc Ice. The 4-year-old Irish-bred filly, winner of the Prix de Boulogne at Longchamps, is trained by Robert Collet.
The Matriarch at 1 1/8 miles on turf is expected to draw a stellar field headed by Banks Hill and Golden Apples.
