Good Start for Palm Meadows Training Center

(from track report)
With one winner Friday and four on Saturday, the new Palm Meadows training center in Boynton Beach is off to a fast start at producing winners at Gulfstream Park.

Baileys Edge scored an upset victory in the Mr. Prospector Handicap (gr. III) Saturday to become the fourth winner in two days to come out of the training center. Steve Margolis trains the 6-year-old at Palm Meadows.

In the race following, Deferred Comp came off a Palm Meadows workout to score in allowance company for trainer Tony Reinstedler.

Earlier on Saturday, two of trainer Todd Pletcher's runners came off the van from Palm Meadows to score. Both are 3-year-olds who have been nominated to the Florida Derby. Indy Dancer won the third race, and Lion Tamer took the fifth race, the second career wins for both.

On opening day Friday, Native Two Stepper won the final race, part of the string that trainer Mark Shuman has in training at Palm Meadows, which, like Gulfstream, is owned by Magna Entertainment Corp.
