Trainer George Weaver saddled his first winner at Gulfstream when he tightened the girth on Randy and Christine Hill's Christine's Outlaw, who romped to an 11½-length victory in the first race on Saturday and returned a $9.60 win mutuel. Six races later, Weaver won the seventh race with Dogwood Stable's Color Me Gone, who paid a whopping $140.60. Weaver had his first career winner on Dec. 5 when he won with First Spear at Calder.
"It felt good to get that first win at Calder out of the way," said Weaver who took out his trainer's license in November, "and it felt good winning my first race at Gulfstream. The longshot (Color Me Gone) was icing on the cake. I had saddled a lot of horses here when I was an assistant for Todd Pletcher but this is the first time I won at Gulfstream on my own."
