(Track report)

Arlington Park announced that Frank G. Gabriel Jr., who was named executive vice president of racing operations last Nov. 4, will add the role of racing secretary to his current list of duties.

"In searching for a new racing secretary, it didn't take us long to
realize that we already had the best candidate right here at Arlington Park," said president Steve Sexton. "With nearly three decades of racing experience and an extensive network of contacts throughout the industry, Frank Gabriel is the right person to direct our racing department's effort to continue to improve Arlington's

"We are currently seeking a very experienced and skilled assistant
racing secretary to support Gabriel and strengthen our racing department as we move to the next level," added Sexton.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back into the day-to-day operation of Arlington's racing department," said Gabriel. "With our return to a May opening we will be need to get off to a good start for the meet to build momentum leading up to the Summer Festival of Racing. Also, it will be important to draw horses from across the country to our stakes races in order to create greater interest for our national simulcast audience."

In addition, Gabriel will continue to oversee all phases of racing and related operations. Gabriel, who currently serves as chairman of the North American Rating Committee, has worked in various capacities at 11 different racetracks in seven states during his 29 years in the industry.
