Charismatic Filly Tops First Session Of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Mixed Sale

A yearling filly by champion and dual classic winner Charismatic brought the top price of $64,000 Sunday during the first session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky winter mixed sale at the Newtown Paddocks near Lexington. Stoneway Farm purchased her from James M. Herbener Jr., agent. Produced from the 18-year-old stakes-placed Whitesburg mare Whitesburg Express, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to 2000 Los Angeles Handicap (gr. III) winner winner Highland Gold (by Slew o' Gold). The filly was offered by Herbener at the 2002 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, but was bought back for $32,000.

In all, 62 horses were sold for a gross of $515,700, an average of $8,318, and a median of $3,100. The sale's second and final session is scheduled for Monday, beginning at 10 a.m. (EST).
