Allspice Flavors Silverbulletday Stakes

(from track report)
The good news for Allspice is the $150,000 Silverbulletday Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-old fillies does not possess a dominating presence like 2002 winner Take Charge Lady or undefeated Lady Tak.

Trainer Gene Cilio is eager to get see his filly stretch out to a 1 1/16 mile after finishing second behind Lady Tak in both the six-furlong Thelma Stakes and one-mile Tiffany Lass.

Owned by James Tafel, Allspice was disqualified and placed third in the Thelma Stakes. She enters the Silverbulletday as the 2-1 morning line favorite in the eight-horse field.

Cilio, who won this race for Tafel in 2000 with Lakenheath, sticks with jockey Robby Albarado.

Another filly who should be happy to see Lady Tak remain on the backside is Golden Marlin, who stretches out to two turns for the first time for trainer Greg Foley.

Golden Marlin, at 5-1 on the morning line, arrived at Fair Grounds a couple of weeks ago in preparation for her first start outside of Kentucky.

Shane Sellers gets his first mount aboard Golden Marlin.

While Fair Grounds leading trainer Steve Asmussen will train Lady Tak up to the Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II) Mar. 8, he still has a chance for the winner's circle with the uncoupled pair of Souris and Arrival Time.

Souris, making her Fair Grounds debut, was second to My Trusty Cat in the Delta Princess Stakes in her last start.

Arrival Time has not finished worse than second in four career starts, but only has a maiden win on the grass at Fair Grounds.
