The $46,371 wagered was well off last year's first day pool one total of $60,500. Pool one wagering is scheduled to resume Friday at noon ET. Wagering will continue Saturday and Sunday, with the pool closing Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Reflecting the lack of a solid favorite, or any favorite at all, Kentucky Derby Future Wager bettors hammered the field down to the even-money favorite after the first day of wagering in pool one Thursday. The field represents all horses other than the 23 available for individual wagering, and was down from a 2-1 'morning line.'More than $19,000 of the total $46,371 that was wagered over the first day was bet on the field. Of the individual horses, Indy Dancer and Kafwain ended up at 12-1, lowest odds of any horses offered. They finished just $4 apart in the day's wagering. Kafwain won last week's San Vicente (gr. II) and Indy Dancer runs Sunday in the Risen Star (gr. III). Sky Mesa was fancied at 14-1, with Empire Maker next at 16-1, and Domestic Dispute and Minister Wild Cat held at 24-1. Toccet and Seattle Hoofer were at 25-1 after the day's wagering. Ozzie Cat, at 26-1 was bet down from a 50-1 'morning line.'
