Broad Brush, by Ack Ack out of the Hoist the Flag mare Hay Patcher, has sired 80 stakes winners, including last year's champion Farda Amiga.
Leading sire Broad Brush returned to Graham J. Beck's Gainesway Farm near Lexington March 11 following treatment for septic arthritis of his left front fetlock at Rood and Riddle equine clinic. The 20-year-old stallion spent 10 days at the clinic."Broad Brush should be ready to resume breeding mares around March 19," said Dr. Alan Ruggles of Rood and Riddle. "He will receive an additional week of antibiotics and a tapering course of analgesics."According to Michael Hernon of Gainesway, "Broad Brush has bred eight mares who have all been checked for pregnancy, and we are delighted to report all eight have tested in foal, He is booked to his normal book of 50 mares, and we are optimistic he will handle the balance of his 2003 book without difficulty."
