"In spite of losing six days to bad weather conditions, our business has stayed good," said Pope. "People keep coming out to the races and they also enjoy playing Instant Racing, which is in no small part responsible for this purse increase."
Oaklawn Park has raised purses $1,000 across the board in all races except stakes events. The increase will affect all races from March 30 through the April 12 close of the meet in Hot Springs, Ark. "Once again we are able to see our way clear to let horsemen enjoy the fruits of the highly successful meet we are enjoying," said racing secretary Pat Pope in a release.
