On Friday Keeneland's 15-day spring meet opens in Lexington. The track has some new and improved ways to watch its races, whether you're on the grounds or at home. Many of Keeneland's top races will be featured on national television this spring. National coverage begins on opening day when the Television Games Network (TVG) provides extensive, on-track coverage. TVG's coverage will continue throughout each day of the meet, beginning at 1 p.m. (ET). Post time is 1:15 p.m. every day.Two Keeneland races for three-year-olds--both stepping stones on the road to the Triple Crown events--will be televised nationally this year. Keeneland's grade I, $750,000-guaranteed Toyota Blue Grass Stakes will be televised live by NBC on Saturday, April 12 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. (ET). The grade II, $325,000-added Coolmore Lexington Stakes will be shown on tape delay on espn2 on Saturday, April 19, from 6-6:30 p.m. For fans at the racetrack, Keeneland is unveiling a new 9 foot x 12 foot LED video board located in the North terrace area. "The large screen will make it more enjoyable for fans to watch the races and race replays," said Jim Williams, Keeneland's director of communications. "We're experimenting with it. If it is successful, we'll bring it back next meet." On Friday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m., WLEX-TV in Lexington will broadcast a live 30-minute show previewing this year's Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. WLEX also will broadcast "Keeneland Close-Up," highlighting the week's top races, previews the upcoming week's races and offers interviews with jockeys, owners and trainers. It airs each Saturday morning during the meet at 9:30 a.m. (ET). Each race day, Insight Cable will show Keeneland's 30-minute replay show "Today at Keeneland." In Lexington, the show will be broadcast on Channel 6 at 8 p.m. each race day; in Louisville, viewers can tune in to Channel 8 at 8 p.m. except on April 7 and April 24 when it will be shown at 10 p.m; in Northern Kentucky, the replay show can be found on Channel 6 at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Keeneland's feature race will be broadcast live on radio stations in select markets.
