Elusive Elusive, a bay son of Elusive Quality, zipped an eighth of a mile in :10 Monday to set the pace during the first under tack show for the Keeneland April sale of 2-year-olds in training in Lexington. Bred by Ron Crockett in Kentucky, the colt has never been offered at public auction before. His dam, an 11-year-old daughter of Staff Writer named Pleas Write, is a multiple stakes winner. The Keeneland track was soaked by overnight rains and there were showers early during the workouts. But the sun broke through the clouds in the afternoon.Three juveniles shared the honors for the fastest workout at a quarter mile, each covering the distance in :21 1/5. They were an Our Emblem -- Northern Glance filly named Irrevocable; a Good and Tough -- Tarnished Gold colt; and a Siphon -- Expedicionaria filly. He is consigned to the Keeneland sale by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables, agent. The only worker at three furlongs was a Deputy Commander -- Cat's Image filly that was clocked in :35 3/5.One 2-year-old that generated a buzz prior to the under tack show was Buccaneer Baby, an Unbridled's Song colt who is a half-brother to grade III winner and successful sire Belong to Me (by Danzig). Consigned by Becky Thomas of Sequel Bloodstock, as agent, he was purchased by Thomas for $150,000 at last year's Keeneland October yearling sale. But the colt only galloped on Monday.Workouts on the turf were cancelled. The second and final under tack show is scheduled for April 14, beginning at 10:30 a.m. (EST). The sale will be held on April 15, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
