Three-year-old fillies are the center of attention Friday at Oaklawn Park's Racing Festival of the South when an evenly matched field of six vies in the $200,000 Fantasy Stakes (gr. II).
The 1 1/16-mile event including the impressive Honeybee Stakes winner, My Trusty Cat.
My Trusty Cat, trained by David Vance, has not been off-the-board in eight starts and sports earnings of $284,025 heading into the Fantasy. Don Pettinger will once again be her jockey.
Ruby's Reception, second in a troubled trip to My Trusty Cat in the Honeybee, is considered a serious threat to the favorite. She, too, has had a stellar career, including a win in the A.M. Fisher Debutante Stakes at Ellis Park last summer and second place finishes in both the Kentucky Cup Juvenile Filly Stakes and Alcibiades in the fall. Terry Thompson returns to ride.
Go For Glamour, third recently in the Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I), has been something of a recent development for trainer Beau Greely and might prove to be the right horse on Friday. She won two races prior to that effort and appears in sharp form. She gets Alex Solis as a rider.
Westerly Breeze, winner of Keeneland's Alcibiades, tries to get on track for one time Oaklawn regular trainer Carl Nafzger. Jon Court will be on hand to handle the filly, who sports the highest career earnings in the field, $314 535.$200,000 Fantasy Stakes (gr. II), 3-year-old fillies, 1 1/16 mile
