(from track report)
Jockey Patty Cooksey was in good spirits immediately after an accident Saturday in which she broke both legs. Surgery to repair a broken femur and a fractured tibia was performed Saturday night.

Cooksey was injured when her mount Ide Rather Not clipped heels and fell in Saturday's opener. the jockey was hurt in the ensuing chain reaction fall that also brought down two other horses and riders. Neither was seriously hurt.

"I went to visit her yesterday," said Mary Ellen Kegel of the Keeneland racing department. "She was in pretty good spirits for somebody with two broken legs. I know she was in a lot of pain but still managed to smile. They were going to operate on her Saturday night."

University of Kentucky Hospital listed her condition on Sunday morning as "satisfactory." Her nurse, forbidden by law to divulge any details, said she was "fine."
