Lady Tak Works Towards Oaks

Edited track report

Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) hopeful Lady Tak, winner of the Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II) and runner-up in the Ashland, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 Monday for trainer Steve Asmussen.

The move was the seventh-fastest of 24 at the distance.

Trainer Ken McPeek won't be as busy during Kentucky Derby Week as he was last year, when he saddled Kentucky Derby favorite Harlan's Holiday in the big race. But he could have a very big week as three of his stable's stars will be running.

Take Charge Lady will run in the Louisville Breeders' Cup (gr. II) on Kentucky Oaks Day, where she is expected to have a rematch with Horse of the Year Azeri, who narrowly defeated her in the Apple Blossom (gr. I) at Oaklawn. McPeek also plans to run Midnight Cry in the La Troienne (gr. III) and White Cat in the Crown Royal American Turf (gr. III).

Trainer Greg Foley said Lloyd Madison Farm's Iroquois (gr. III) and John Battaglia Memorial winner Champali is scheduled to work on Tuesday. A decision will be made after that breeze as to whether to run the Glitterman colt in the Coolmore Lexington or the Derby Trial (gr. III) at Churchill Downs April 26.
