Danehill Colt Brings Record Price At Magic Millions Yearling Sale

The Magic Millions national winter yearling sale in Australia Sunday sold its most expensive horse ever -- an Aus$300,000 Danehill colt -- and established another record for gross revenue of Aus$2,650,450. In all, 188 yearlings were sold for an average price of Aus$14,045. Seventy percent of the horses offered found new homes.

The sale-topping Danehill colt was produced from the unraced High Top mare Gibraltar Heights and is a half-brother to the international stakes performer High Polish. Originally passed over for Aus$250,000 when offered in the sale ring, the colt was sold soon afterward to leading Sydney-based trainer Paul Sutherland.
