Pimlico Offers Head-to-Head and Pick 4 Among Weekend's Wagers

Pimlico will offer a number of wagers this weekend beyond its usual win, place, show, and exacta bets. The Maryland Jockey Club will offer guaranteed minimum gross pools on its Pick 4 on Friday and Saturday, and will also offer head-to-head wagers both days.

The Pick 4 is a progressive wager which encompasses races four through seven and nine through 12 on each card with a 14% takeout. Preakness Day, May 17, will feature $700,000 in guarantees, including $500,000 on the Preakness Pick 4. The Pimlico Special/Black-Eyed Susan Day will have a $50,000 guarantee on the early Pick 4 and a $100,000 guarantee on the late Pick 4.

On May 16 the track will offer four head-to-head wagers, where patrons select which horse of the two options will finish ahead of the other, regardless of the winner. There will be eight head-to-head opportunities on Saturday, May 17.

The four head-to-head wagers on Friday, and the horse options, are:

Race 8, the Pimlico Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. III)
Mandy's Gold or Smok'n Frolic

Race 9, the Very One Stakes
Maria's Mirage or Repository

Race 10, the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II)
Ivanavinalot or Santa Catarina

Race 11, the Pimlico Special (gr. I)
Balto Star or Hero's Tribute
