Allen is the all-time leading trainer at Colonial with 89 wins. The Varina, Va., native has won five training titles in the six year history of Colonial Downs.Colonial Downs will open a 30 meet on June 13 that continues through July 22nd on a Friday through Tuesday schedule.
Colonial Downs racetrack in Virginia will give away two bobbleheads in June--jockey Ryan Fogelsonger on June 14 and trainer Ferris Allen on June 28. The first 4,000 paid admissions will receive a free bobblehead doll on both days. The Fogelsonger giveaway coincides with the meet's first stakes, the $50,000 Punch Line Stakes. The Allen bobblehead day is the same day as the $50,000 Da Hoss Stakes.Fogelsonger won the 2002 Eclipse Award for apprentice jockey. After a slow start to his career in Maryland, Fogelsonger's business picked up in Virginia as he finished third at the 2002 Colonial meet with 27 victories. He finished 2002 with 267 wins and has continued his success into the 2003 campaign, ranking second in the nation with 156 wins through May 27.
