Truckle Feature Euthanized After Training Injury

Truckle Feature, a Grade 1-placed 2-year-old last year for owner James McIngvale, was euthanized after suffering a leg injury during a five-furlong breeze at Santa Anita Friday.

McIngvale described the injury only as a "broken leg" when reached at his furniture store office in Houston, Texas. Trainer Bob Baffert was not immediately available for details.

"He had just got through breezing [in :59.60] and stepped wrong. It's a tragic situation," McIngvale said.

Truckle Feature most recently finished fourth in the May 26 Lazaro Barrera Memorial Stakes (gr. II) at Hollywood Park. Earlier this year, he finished second to King Robyn in the San Pedro Stakes.

By the late Saint Ballado out of the Danzig mare Magic Gleam, Truckle Feature was purchased by McIngvale for $500,000 at last year's OBSC February 2-year-olds in training sale. He broke his maiden at Del Mar in his second start and finished third in both the Belmont Futurity Stakes (gr. I) and Lane's End Breeders' Futurity Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland.

Truckle Feature's career ended with a record of 2-1-2 in 10 starts with earnings of $151,460.
