Miss Bridget Jones Invades Hollywood Oaks

(from Hollywood Park notes)
Miss Bridget Jones, unbeaten in three starts, was purchased privately this week and flown to California from Texas to compete in the $200,000-added Hollywood Breeders' Cup Oaks (gr. II) for 3-year-old fillies on Saturday.

A chestnut daughter of Peaks and Valleys, Miss Bridget Jones scored her most recent victory May 24 in the $150,000 Stonerside Oaks at Lone Star Park for trainer Cole Norman.

"She arrived Monday on a Tex Sutton charter, galloped Tuesday and breezed this morning," said new trainer Laura de Seroux from her San Luis Rey Downs headquarters Wednesday. "She will ship to Hollywood Park Thursday, school in the afternoon, train Friday and run Saturday." The Oaks is at 1 1/16 mile.

The filly was purchased privately Sunday from David Hulkewicz and Turf Express, Inc. for a partnership of Marsha Naify, Robert Geringer and Berry Gordy's Vistas Stable.

Miss Bridget Jones began her career at Hollywood Park and won her first start Dec. 15 for trainer Mike Puype and jockey Julie Krone. She was then sold to Hulkewicz and Turf Express, for whom she won two races at Lone Star. "We got interested in her after she won the Stonerside and bought her," said de Seroux.
