Old Age Claims Foundation Mare Stick to Beauty

Stick to Beauty, the dam of 1982 champion sprinter Gold Beauty and the foundation mare of the late Georgia Hofmann's Wycombe House Stud, was euthanized Friday morning at Taylor Made Farm due to the infirmities of old age. The venerable broodmare was 30-years-old.

Stick to Beauty (Illustrious-Hail to Beauty) produced 17 foals, all of which made the races, and 11 of which reached the winner's circle. In addition to champion Gold Beauty, Stick to Beauty produced stakes winners Majestic Venture, The Prime Minister, Miraloma, and Storm Beauty.

Stick to Beauty won three of 18 starts, including the 1976 Busanda Stakes, and earned $41,924 on the racetrack. She was sent to Taylor Made, where she will be buried, in 2000 after the Wycombe Stud dispersal at Keeneland in November of the previous year.

Among the horses produced by daughters and granddaughters of Stick to Beauty are Maplejinsky, Dayjur, Sky Beauty, and Gold Legend. Renaissance Lady, out of Storm Beauty, currently is a 2-year-old stakes-placed filly for Bob and Beverly Lewis.
