Ankle Chip Knocks Enjoy Out of Molly Pitcher

Enjoy, owned and trained by Beau Greely, suffered a chipped left ankle Friday morning after galloping in preparation for Saturday's $300,000 Molly Pitcher Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II).

"She went out at 5:30 and galloped very well," Greely said. "But when she came off the track, there was something wrong. We took X-rays and they showed a small chip in her left ankle.

"She'll be shipped to Kentucky on Monday," Greely said. "Dr. Bill Baker will perform surgery to remove the chip, and if everything goes all right, she'll be back racing by the end of the year."

Enjoy was the likely second choice in the Molly Pitcher. She was coming off a second behind Horse of the Year Azeri in the Milady Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. I) at Hollywood Park.

Her defection leaves a field of four fillies and mares in the mile and an eighth handicap. Top weight Summer Colony will be the heavy favorite.
