J.J. Pletcher's Lismore Knight duels for his third consecutive victory Sunday in the $250,000 Kent Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. IIIT) for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 mile on the Delaware Park lawn.
The son of Woodman won the Arlington Classic Stakes (gr. IIT) by three-quarters of a length on June 28, his fourth victory in seven career starts. In his first start this year, the Todd Pletcher-trained Lismore Knight scored a one-length triumph in a one-mile allowance race at Belmont Park on May 17.
Lismore Knight took advantage of a ground-saving run in the Arlington Classic, tracking the leaders into the stretch before swinging out in the home stretch and catching pacesetter Remind in mid-stretch of the 1 1/16-mile test.
John Velasquez, who was also named on Pike Place Gold, replaces Rene Douglas aboard Lismore Knight.
Remind, a multiple graded stakes-placed winner, gets a rematch after his second-place finish with Jerry Bailey getting the call.
Gimmeawink, who has won a pair of minor stakes on the dirt, most recently the six-furlong Francis "Jock" LaBelle Memorial Stakes on the Delaware main track earlier this meet, switches to turf for trainer Timothy Ritchey.$250,000 Kent Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. IIIT), 3-year-olds, 1 1/8 mile on turf
