Runaway Dancer, trained by Dan Hendricks, ran the distance in 2:16 2/5 in scoring his third triumph in ten lifetime starts. The son of Runaway Groom paid $23.40 for the upset.
Shariya, a 20-1 longshot under Alex Solis, rallied well in the stretch to be second, a half-length in front of Calster in the field of ten older horses.
The first race, a six-furlong sprint for three-year-old claiming horses, was delayed 14 minutes because of a malfunction of the totalisator system. The tote system was inoperative for approximately 25 minutes, thus causing the delay of the running of the day's opener. Winner of the race was Akron Avenue, piloted by Julie Krone. Once the system was restored, there were no problems for the remainder of the program.
