Red Ransom to Stand at Dalham Hall in 2004

Prominent stallion Red Ransom will relocate from Tom Simon's Vinery near Lexington to Darley's Dalham Hall Stud near Newmarket, England, for the 2004 breeding season. His fee will be £35,000 (approximately $56,000). His 2003 fee at Vinery was $45,000.

Currently awaiting the Southern Hemisphere season at Vinery Australia, Red Ransom is represented by two European group I winners this year. His daughter Casual Look won the Vodafone Oaks Stakes (Eng-I), and his son Ransom O'War took the Grosser Dallmayr Preis (Ger-I) Aug. 3.

"Red Ransom has proved himself an exceptional stallion," said Darley's John Ferguson. "He's having a spectacular season with two group I winners; his stock love the turf; and we're thrilled to be able to offer him to European breeders."

A son of Epsom Derby (Eng-I) winner Roberto out of the Damascus mare Arabia, 16-year-old Red Ransom has sired 49 stakes winners, including Eclipse Award winner and Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT) winner Perfect Sting and English champion miler Intikhab.

Vinery will retain its majority interest in Red Ransom and will jointly manage him.
