First Winners for Graded Winners Lucky Roberto, Scatmandu, Wagon Limit

Graded stakes winners Lucky Roberto, Scatmandu, and Wagon Limit were represented by their first winners recently. Lucky Roberto, a Saratoga grade I winner, came up with his initial winner Aug. 8 when Luck My Way won at five furlongs in 1:00.06 at Saratoga in her first start. Bred by Gus Schoenborn Jr., she races for Equirace.Com. Lucky Roberto (Belong to Me -- Roberto's Gal, by Roberto) stood at Contemporary Stallions near Coxsackie, N.Y., prior to being sent to South Africa in the fall of 2000.

On the same Aug. 8 card at Saratoga, grade I winner Wagon Limit was represented by his first winner when Silver Wagon scored by 7 1/2 lengths at seven furlongs in 1:23.91. Bred by Mr. and Mrs. Leverett S. Miller, the colt is owned by Buckram Oak Farm. Wagon Limit (Conquistador Cielo -- Darlin Lindy, by Cox's Ridge) stands at Arthur B. Hancock III's Stone Farm near Paris, Ky.

The following day at Ellis Park, Scat Sam Man, by grade III winner Scatmandu, won by 6 1/2 lengths at 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:18.22. Bred by Bruce Hundley, the colt races for Hundley's Saxony Farm. Scatmandu (Storm Cat -- Princess Alydar, by Alydar) stands at John T L. Jones Jr.'s Walmac International near Lexington.
