Meche's current riding license expired June 30 and the rider was seeking to renew his license until his original suspension could be heard in district court.
According to a report in the New Orleans Times-Picayune
, the commission suspended Meche in April for failing do his best to win a January race at Delta Downs. Following that ruling, Meche appealed to a civil district court that issued the rider a stay that puts the suspension hold until the case can be heard in court. A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.
