Jockey Kent Desormeaux, currently seventh in the Del Mar riding standings with 12 winners, has replaced his agent of the past two years, Tom Knust, with Brad Pegram, who also serves currently as agent for rider Frank Alvarado. "It was Kent's decision, of course, and we parted on amicable terms," Knust, the former racing secretary at Del Mar said Wednesday morning. "He just felt he needed to make a change. We had a good two years together and I think we helped each other out. " Knust said he would be "looking at a couple of different options."
Knust also noted that Desormeaux, after riding today's Del Mar card, would be heading back to Japan for mounts there both this weekend and next. He said the rider would be seen in action at Del Mar on four more days - this coming Monday and Wednesday, Sept. 1 and 3, and then Sept. 7 and 10.
