Star Track Farm's Mother's Sacrifice won an early duel with A Perfect Wood and a late challenge from So Sweet a Cat before posting a 1 3/4-length victory in the $155,863 New York Breeders' Futurity that highlighted the Labor Day card at Finger Lakes. The six-furlong test was restricted to registered New York-bred 2-year-olds.Ridden by C. C. Yang for trainer Donna Bireta, Mother Sacrifice got the half-mile in : 46.52 and completed five-eighths of a mile in :59.43. The winner, a juvenile daughter of Dixie Brass -- Genuine Attraction (by Cormorant), ran the three-quarters of a mile in 1:13.06. Mother's Sacrifice paid $8.00, $4.40, and $2.40. So Sweet a Cat, returned $8.20 and $2.50. Rb's Glitter , the favorite under Aaron Gryder, ducked in at the start and then raced wide in the stretch, was worth $2.20 for the show spot in the seven-horse field.
