Jockeys Emile Ramsammy and Robert Landry were in stable condition after both riders were thrown from their mounts during Woodbine's fourth race on Friday.Ramsammy fell after his mount, Lucky Scarab, broke down along the backstretch of the E.P. Taylor Turf Course. Landry and his mount, Silent Thunder, also fell as a result of the incident. Silent Thunder broke loose, but was eventually corralled. Lucky Scarab was humanely euthanized.The riders were subsequently taken to Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto for x-rays.
Ramsammy, a resident of Brampton, currently ranks fourth in the Woodbine standings through Sept. 4, with 67 wins and $4.1 million in earnings. Landry, in his 22nd season in the saddle, ranks ninth with 41 wins, and has nearly $3.6 million in earnings.
