During this period, licensees are urged to give the Compact office as much advance notice as possible when requesting service. "Our employees have gone to great lengths to get the program back 'live', and we appreciate the patience our licensees and member commissions have shown. Racing goes on--even here at Colonial Downs--and we want to assure National Licensees and new applicants that they will continue to be taken care of by the Compact staff," said Robin Williams, chairman of the Compact. "We had prepared for a disruption of service for two or three days, but we didn't imagine it might be weeks before our office would have power again. The downside of being an electronic operation is that we are heavily dependent on power; the upside is that we are fairly portable."
