"Schettine does not intend, under any circumstances, to sell his weanlings or his racing stock. In fact, he intends to up the ante in his racing program. He is as committed to his stallion and breeding program as he has been in the past."The horses had been planned to sell on the sale's opening day, Sunday, Nov. 2 along with 17 horses from Joanne Nor. Nor's horses will now be offered at the conclusion of the Nov. 3 session.
William Schettine, owner of Signature Stallions near Ocala, Fla. has decided not to sell 58 of his horses at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale as it was reported last week. The dispersal of his broodmare band and foals was to include Felicita, dam of multiple grade I stakes winner Take Charge Lady, who is in foal to A.P. Indy. The sale was not to include his horses in training or the three stallions he owns that stand at Signature Stallions. In a release from Signature Stallions, Schettine "originally decided to have the dispersal because of time-management issues regarding overseeing his broodmare and foal band in conjunction with his other business endeavors.' However, since then, he has been able to make some adjustments to his schedule to allow him to keep the horses and work with them to his level of satisfaction. Additionally, Schettine strongly feels it's an exceptionally good broodmare band with near unlimited potential and, in keeping with his commitment to the breeding program in the state of Florida, Schettine has decided the broodmare band will either stay in Florida under his ownership or would only be sold as a package to a Florida-based operator."
