Take Charge Lady Seeks Spinster Repeat

Select Stable's Take Charge Lade is set to defend her crown in the $500,000 Overbrook Spinster (gr. I) at Keeneland Sunday. In the 47-year history of the race, only three distaffers have knocked off multiple victories--Bornastar in 1957 and 1958, Susan's Girl in 1973 and 1975, and Bayakoa in 1989 and 1990. All three were voted champions in the year of their second Spinster triumph.

Take Charge Lady enters off an impressive win in the Arlington Matron Handicap. Trained by Kenny McPeak, she is perfect in four Keeneland starts. She will have to fend off Edmund Gann's You to repeat. The multiple grade I winner has earned more than $2 million, and is conditioned by Hall of Famer Bobby Frankel.

Miss Linda won the Spinster two years ago, and will try to get an encore off her third in the Personal Ensign at Saratoga. Amerman Racing Stable's Printemps runs in the Spinster for the second consecutive year.
