Holy Bubbette Rates Edge in Safely Kept

(from Pimlico report)
Five of the eight starters in Saturday's $150,000 Safely Kept Breeders' Cup (gr. III) for 3-year-old fillies at Pimlico are added money winners, led by the Tom Amoss-trained Holy Bubbette.

Holy Bubbette, who won the Dixie Miss at Louisiana Downs last out, has been tabbed the favorite at 5-2. The Holy Bull filly is a perfect three for three since being transferred to the Amoss barn, winning at Saturday's six-furlong distance at Churchill Downs, Arlington Park and Louisiana Downs. Horacio Karamanos, Pimlico's leading rider, will be aboard.

"We are excited about this race," said Amoss, from his Churchill Downs base. "We won this race a year ago with Miss Lodi and think this filly is of equal quality. The post position draw (number 2) is a positive for a speed filly. The quality about her that is most encouraging is that her temperament has improved since joining our barn and with each race her performance has been better."

Elegant Designer (7-2), from the Laurel Park barn of Tony Dutrow, won Monmouth's Miss Woodford Stakes in her previous start. She is a very impressive seven for twelve lifetime, with stakes wins at Calder, Sam Houston and Aqueduct on her resume. Mario Pino will ride.

"Wow, you can't count out any of these fillies," said Pino, who has guided Elegant Designer to three added money scores. "My horse gives you a good effort every time and you can always rely on her to close. It will be a good race to watch."

Dutrow's brother, Richard, will be shipping She's Zealous (7-2) from his Belmont Park barn. The daughter of Cozzene was stakes placed at Saratoga this summer. Raul Rojas will travel down from New York for the mount.

Randaroo (9-2) won a stakes in November 2002 and has run with top company ever since. Her latest effort was a runner-up finish to Elegant Designer at Monmouth. Herb Castillo Jr. will be riding for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. The Gold Case filly had off the board finishes in a pair of grade I races this summer (Acorn and Prioress).

Flawless Diamond (5-1), from the powerful stable of Todd Pletcher, is two for two lifetime with impressive victories at the distance at both Saratoga and Belmont. Rick Wilson will be in the saddle.

Follow Me Home (8-1) is a four-time stakes winner for conditioner Bob Levine. She took down an added-money race at Gulfstream Park this winter and three stakes at Monmouth this summer (Crank It Up, Candy Éclair and Trenton).
