Aldebaran, who figures to be the favorite for the Oct. 25 Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) in what will be his final start, will begin his stallion career for $50,000 live foal at Darby Dan Farm near Lexington. The fee is guaranteed only until the Sprint, after which it might be raised.The farm previously announced a commitment program called the "Aldebaran guarantee." The program allows owners of highly qualified mares access to the son of Mr. Prospector at a special $40,000 fee and the option to return at that same fee in years five, six, and seven. Aldebaran, who was produced from the Private Account mare Chimes of Freedom, has earnings of $1.7 million.
