Sligo Bay to Adena Springs Kentucky

Frank Stronach has purchased grade I turf winner Sligo Bay for stallion duty at his Adena Springs Kentucky near Midway in a deal arranged by International Bloodstock Agency. The Irish-bred 5-year-old son of Sadler's Wells arrived at Adena Springs Oct. 30 and was assigned a $10,000 foal.

Campaigned initially in Europe, Sligo Bay won the Cinema Handicap (gr. IIIT) for Andrea Pollack's Columbine Stable in the spring of 2001 in his first U.S. start and placed later that year in the Hollywood Derby (gr. IT), Oak Tree Derby (gr. IIT), and San Gabriel Handicap (gr. IIT). He captured the 2002 Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes (gr. IT), and ran third in the Tanforan Handicap on grass in his sole start this year.

Sligo Bay was group I-placed in France and group III-placed in Ireland for Sue Magnier. He was bred by Orpendale, an entity of Coolmore Stud. Trained by C. Beau Greely in the U.S., Sligo Bay retired with four wins from 17 starts and earnings of $484,695.

Sligo Bay is a half-brother to Japanese millionaire Lady Ballade, and his dam, Angelic Song (by Halo), is a full sister to champion Glorious Song (dam of major sire Rahy and champion Singspiel) and champion Devil's Bag.
