Maktoum's Touch of the Blues Retired

(from Hollywood Park notes)
Touch of the Blues, a 6-year-old horse who finished second in the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) last month, has been retired, trainer Neil Drysdale reported Friday.

"He leaves Monday for the Irish National Stud," said Drysdale.

Touch of the Blues, a French-bred owned and bred by Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid al Maktoum, won eight of 35 starts and earned $1,655,358 during his career.

He won the Atto Mile (Can-I) at Woodbine in September and was third in the Shadwell Turf Mile (gr. IT) at Keeneland three weeks later. In the Breeders' Cup Mile, he finished a stubborn second, losing the stretch duel to Six Perfections by three-quarters of a length.
