Jockeys Plan Japan-to-Hollywood Double Duty

Jockeys Alex Solis, Victor Espinoza and Corey Nakatani will be busy on Nov. 30. All three have been able to make flight arrangements that will enable them to ride in both the $4 million Japan Cup (Jpn-I) and the $600,000 Hollywood Derby (gr. IT) and $500,000 Matriarch (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park later in the day.

Solis will ride Johar, Espinoza will pilot Sarafan, and Nakatani guides Denon in the rich Japanese turf race.

Once their Japan commitments are completed, the jockeys will take a 12-hour flight to Los Angeles.

In the Hollywood Derby, Solis will ride Del Mar Derby (gr. IIT) winner Fairly Ransom in the Hollywood Derby, while Espinoza will be on Gassan Royal and Nakatani rides Buckland Manor in the 1 1/4-mile grass test. The latter two will both be supplemented.

In the Matriarch, Espinoza has taken a call on Belleski, while Nakatani will ride either Dress To Thrill or Dedication. Solis is still open.
