Proud Man stormed to the lead in the stretch and then held off a later charge to post a narrow victory in the $500,000 Franks Farms Turf that was part of Saturday's Sunshine Millions day card at Gulfstream Park.Ridden by Rene Douglas for trainer Christophe Clement, Proud Man was far back early as 22-1 shot Hear No Evil set the pace, with fractions of :46.50, 1:09.87 and 1:33.76. Proud Man led a late rally as most of the field closed with a rush, and got up for a half-length triumph. Hear No Evil held on for second, with Special Matter third. The final time for 1 1/8 miles on turf was 1:45.69. Man From Wicklow, the 3-1 favorite, was last in the 11-horse field throughout.Douglas, who was Proud Man's regular rider in 2001 when the horse won several graded stakes, said, "I was happy to ride this horse again today because I know him and I know when he likes to move. Today I knew when to ask him, and when I did, he responded." Clement was pleased with the clean run Proud Man enjoyed."He finally got a good trip," said Clement. "He's been very unlucky.
