Our New Recruit Ready to Steal the Show in Palo Verdes

Our New Recruit will make his first new start in two months when takes the gate for Sunday's $150,000 Palo Verdes Handicap (gr. II) at Santa Anita, but trainer John Sadler said the long delay was by design.

"We just wanted to space his races a little bit," Sadler said. "His style is good. He stalks or can be up on the lead so our strategy will kind of be determined by the draw."

Our New Recruit has a 4-7-1 record from 14 starts, with earnings of $205,120 for Susan Searing of Arcadia, Calif., who races under CRK Stable.
Ted West, father of trainer Ted H. West, said Bluesthestandard is coming up to the race "perfect so we'll see how he runs."

Probable for the Palos Verdes include: Bluesthestandard (Mike Smith, 117),, Boston Common (Gary Stevens, 117), Captain Squire (Alex Solis, 117), Giovannetti (no rider, 117), Marino Marini (Tyler Baze, 115); Our New Recruit (no rider, 114). Summer Service (Corey Nakatani, 112), and Tough Game (Espinoza, 115).
