It was Ladies Day at Saturday's under tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s March juvenile auction, with fillies turning in the fastest works in Central Florida.A daughter of first-crop sire Greenwood Lake posted the swiftest quarter-mile time of :21, then galloped out a half in :46 2/5. It was the filly's second bullet work in a row. During a show last Saturday, she was among 13 horses that turned in the fastest eighth-mile time of :10 2/5.A chestnut, the filly is out of the 8-year-old End Sweep mare Champagne Sweep, who is a full sister to Selene Stakes (gr. I) winner Dark Ending. Joe Cornacchia purchased the fast-working filly for $80,000 during last year's OBS August yearling sale. Her consignor for the OBS March auction is Robert Scanlon agent.Fillies by Gilded Time and Good and Tough shared the honors for fastest work at an eighth of a mile, covering the distance in :10 1/5. However, the daughter of Gilded Time turned in the fastest gallop out time, going three-eighths in :34 1/5. The Good and Tough filly was clocked in :34 4/5.The Gilded Time had breezed an eighth in :10 4/5 last Saturday. Sheis out of the 8-year-old unraced Cozzene mare Excellence, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Glenbarra (by Vice Regent). The family also produced Arlington Million (gr. IT) winner Golden Pheasant. The Gilded Time filly was bred by Becky Thomas and Lewis Lakin in New York. They bought her back for $28,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton New York-bred preferred sale in Saratoga. Thomas' Sequel Bloodstock, agent, is the filly's consignor for the OBS March sale.The Good and Tough filly was among the 13 horses that worked an eighth in :10 2/5 last Saturday. She is out of the 16-year-old stakes-winning Hagley mare Erv's Duck and is a half-sister to Puerto Rican imported champion Erv's Line (by Line In The Sand). Leprechaun Racing, the filly's consignor, bought her for $68,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred preferred auction. She was bred by a partnership that included Thomas and Lakin.Another session of the under tack show is scheduled for Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. (EST). The sale will be conducted Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 11 a.m. each day.
