TVG will televise the ninth annual Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) during a three hour presentation that will run from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. ET Saturday, March 27. The 10-furlong race, carrying a $6 million purse, is slated to run at approximately 12:20 ET, and will be simulcast over several Fox Sports Net outlets around the country, including Fox Sports Net 2 (Southern California), Fox Sports NY, Fox Sports South, and the Sunshine Network (South Florida) from noon-1:00 p.m. ET.
Coverage of the World Cup is also available on HRTV, which has aired the Dubai International Racing Carnival for two months. Wagering will be offered thrugh Xpressbet. HRTV's coverage begins at 10:30 a.m. ET.
Among the other events TVG and HRTV will air on the World Cup undercard from Nad Al Sheba Racecourse is the $2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen (UAE-I) at six furlongs, the $2 million Dubai Duty Free (UAE-I) at nine furlongs on turf, the $2 Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-I) at 12 furlongs on turf, the $2 UAE Derby (UAE-II) at nine furlongs for 3-year-olds, and the $1 million Godolphin Mile (UAE-II).
Wagering on all the above events, with the exception of the Godolphin Mile, which will be shown on tape, will be offered by TVG through the Fair Grounds. Frank Lyons, Todd Schrupp, and Gary Seibel will host the presentation from TVG's studio in Los Angeles. Fanny Salmon will conduct interviews and do feature stories on HRTV.
Among the American interests in the World Cup are 2003 Breeders' Cup Classic--Powered by Dodge (gr. I) victor Pleasantly Perfect, Medaglia d'Oro, Fleetstreet Dancer, and Domestic Dispute. Cajun Beat, winner of the 2003 Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) goes in the Golden Shaheen, along with Alke, Our New Recruit, Tsigane, and Tour of the Cat.
Sarafan runs in the Dubai Duty Free, while Hard Buck will try his luck in the Sheema Classic. The Mile will feature During and Excessivepleasure.
In addition, TVG will telecast Sunland Park's pair of 3-year-old stakes this weekend, providing live coverage of Saturday's $250,000 Sunland Park Oaks and Sunday's $500,000 WinStar Derby. Post time for both races will be 5:40 p.m. ET. Perfect Moon and Hosco, both conditioned by Doug O'Neill, are expected to contest the WinStar event along with the Bob Baffert-trained Consecrate.
