Students should enter through the East Entrance. Winners must present to claim their prize. More than 3,000 students from all over the country have participated in this program since it was introduced at Keeneland in October 2002.
On Friday, April 16, college students can win $1,000 toward their education in a unique scholarship program co-presented by Keeneland and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association (KTA). Full-time college students who present a valid college I.D. and complete the necessary registration form will be eligible to win one of ten $1,000 scholarships given away on College Day. Each student also will receive a voucher for free admission, good anytime during the final week of Keeneland's spring race meeting. "Education is a major priority for everyone-our young people, our state and our industry," said KTA representative David Schneck. "These scholarships are a way to give back on both an individual level and on a community-wide level."After each race, one winner will be selected via random drawing and announced over the public address system. Following the ninth race, a tenth scholarship will be awarded to a student directly affiliated with the horse industry. Students eligible for the industry scholarship must show proof of their affiliation and are not eligible to be part of the general pool of scholarship hopefuls.
