Test Comes in Comely for Society Selection and Irish Melody

The $100,000 Comely Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct is expected to be a test for both Society Selection and Irish Melody. The two 3-year-old fillies will face seven rivals in the mile race on Friday.

Part of the test for Society Selection will include weight, with the daughter of Coronado's Quest carrying the top weight of 122 pounds, spotting her rivals from four to six pounds.

The Comely also figures to be a big test for Irish Melody, who has won both of her starts. A daughter of Unbridled's Song, her wins both came at Gulfstream Park and were at six and seven furlongs.

The Allen Jerkens-trained Society Selection ran third by a neck in the Davonna
Dale and second by two lengths in the Bonnie Miss, both races were grade II. Her efforts will likely make her the favorite for the Comely.

1-- Rare Gift (Shaun Bridgmohan, 116)
2-- Please Take Me Out (Ramon Perez, 118)
3-- Daydreaming (Javier Castellano, 116)
