Guinevere's Folly, Granddam of European Champion Suave Dancer, Dies

Loyd Jones' Guinevere's Folly, whose grandson, Suave Dancer, was a French and Irish champion, died March 19 because of complications from the infirmities of old age. The 28-year-old daughter of Round Table had spent her last 10 years at Maury Floyd's Brickenhill Farm near Richmond, Ky.

Suave Dancer was one of three stakes winners produced from Guinevere's Folly's first foal, Suavite. Suave Dancer, by Green Dancer, scored his big win in the 1991 CIGA Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I).

Bred by Nuckols Brothers, Guinevere's Folly was bought for $155,000 at the 1977 Keeneland July yearling sale by Karen Soben, agent, from the Nuckols Brothers' Hurstland Farm. Campaigned by Jones, Guinevere's Folly won two stakes, and was retired with four wins from 14 races and earnings of $60,982.

Guinevere's Folly, who was produced from the Bold Lad mare Lodge, produced 13 foals, five of which were winners, including stakes winner Lady Baiul. Four of her daughters are stakes producers.
