Kentucky Museum of Arts + Design holds Oaks Day Fundraiser

Edited from a release

On Friday morning, April 30, they're off to the Oaks Brunch at the Brown Hotel, a Fundraiser to benefit the Kentucky Museum of Arts + Design. More than 250 people have gathered for this 18th annual event to see and be seen, to buy, and to brunch. This festive feast is a perfect way to kick off the day devoted to the fillies. The Oaks Brunch, sponsored by BellSouth, will begin at 9:30 a.m. with mint juleps, mimosas, bloody Marys and other cocktails. Jazz pianist Steve Crews will entertain guests as they shop and sip.

KMA+D's Gallery Shop will feature a stunning display of hats for sale including designer Jill Henning, Kate Bishop, Louise Green, Hatrageous, and Attitudes by Angie.

"We can't guarantee they'll pick the winning horse, but we can guarantee their hat will be a winner!" says KMA+D Board President Lois Mateus of Brown-Forman. A wide variety of unique hand crafted artwork will be on display and available for purchase, perfect for out of towners to take home a bit of Kentucky culture.

The Southern Hospitality will continue at 10:30 with a brunch prepared by Chef Joe Castro of smoked salmon with potato cake, tomato and caper relish with Benedictine, wild rice chicken with tarragon, dried cherries and asparagus, bourbon chocolate mousse and mixed berries with assorted cookies

Board Member Adele Light has painstakingly worked with the staff at the Brown to ensure a memorable morning for corporate, local and out-of-town guests. Tickets are $125 each, or $1250 for a corporate table of 10. A portion of each ticket is tax-deductible, as it benefits the programming of the non-profit museum. Contact Ali Shaw (502) 589-0102 for reservations.

"This is an opportunity for us to showcase Kentucky and our talented artists in a relaxed but elegant environment," said Executive Director Mary Miller.
