Fast Pace Helps Hollywood And Wine Shine

(from Prairie Meadows report)
Hollywood And Wine found a quick pace to her liking in Saturday night's $50,000 Bob Bryant Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

The gray filly settled back in fifth place off the early pacesetter Walks Lik'n Angel, who recorded a scorching :21 4/5 seconds in the first quarter-mile of the six-furlong event.

With Tim Doocy in the saddle, Hollywood And Wine kicked into gear at the top of the stretch, going from third in the stretch to win the race solidly, drawing away by more than four lengths in 1:10 2/5.

Johnston area breeders Ray and Peggy Shattuck of RPM Thoroughbreds foaled the 3-year-old daughter of Tactical Cat. It was the couple's third win of the season.

Kelly Von Hemel trains Hollywood And Wine.

Von Hemel isn't in a hurry to decide when her next race will be. However, Hollywood And Vine's strong performance in the Bob Bryant makes her a promising candidate for the Iowa Breeders' Oaks during this year's Iowa Classic on Aug. 28.

"[Iowa Classic] is a long ways away, but we definitely have that in the back of our minds," said Von Hemel.

Hollywood And Wine has $64,206 in purse earnings, including $30,000 as the winning share in the Bob Bryant.
