Gary Henson, a long-time track announcer, died Saturday night at his home in Renton, Wash., after a long illness. He was 60.Henson was best known as the track announcer at Longacres from 1973 through its closing in 1992. He filled in at Hollywood Park during the 1992 Autumn Meet.Henson also called races at Playfair, Yakima Meadows, Portland Meadows and other western tracks.
Henson was the son of the legendary Harry Henson, who called the races at Hollywood Park from 1958 to 1982.
Henson is survived by his wife, Linda, and a son, Brian.
